HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT – SELKIRK, MANITOBA

Our Black Cat Wear Parts, Selkirk locations, is currently seeking a Human Resources Assistant tojoin our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Administrator is responsible for providing administrative assistance and working closely with Human Resources as well as support for other office tasks and departments. This would include retention and talent development, employee relations and engagement, and payroll and benefits.

As a Human Resources Assistant, you will:

  • Possess strong ethics in relation to business practices, privacy, and confidentiality
  • Foster and drive team member engagement through the management of HR programs, policies and initiatives,
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships and build morale.
  • Provide Employee Relations support including the interpretation of human resource policies and procedures as they relate to team members and Company objectives.
  • Processing of Payroll and Benefits
  • Coordinate and Organize Employee Events and Team Building Initiatives
  • Understand and practice continuous improvement to aid in further development of the Human Resources Department
  • Work with Unionized Team members and work within a Collective Bargaining Agreement

Qualifications of a suitable candidate are:

  • Completion of a college or university program with a focus on Human Resources
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 1-3 years of working experience in Human Resources in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Professional demeanor
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team with proven ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Experience working in unionized environments and the ability to interpret Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Knowledge of employment law, privacy law, and best hiring practices
